Epilogue
Thank you for reading this textbook, “Hydraulics for Practitioners in the Reiwa Era”. As of February 22, 2022, its original objectives have been completed: explanations on 2D flow and bed deformation calculations for meandering rivers, involving basic formulas, difference schemes and calculation code.
Since June 2021, when I started working on this textbook, it has taken me almost 3 years to reach this stage. It turned out to be a much more extensive project than I had originally planned. I am proud to say that there is no other book that describes the system in such detail. A review of the content will continue, and we will update the content accordingly. If you find any errors or improvements, please let me know.
Postscript
Just as this book was nearing completion, I received the sad news of the passing of Professor Kazuyoshi Hasegawa. Much of the foundational knowledge in this book on alluvial river engineering was learned from Professor Hasegawa, and I also referenced many of his experiments to validate my computational models. I learned a great deal from Professor Hasegawa’s dedication to his research and his guidance of younger researchers. I express my sincere gratitude and offer prayers for his eternal peace.
